KENTUCKY WRESTLING

COACHES ASSOCIATION

ARTICLE I
NAME
The name of this organization will be the Kentucky Wrestling Coaches Association. It will be a voluntary organization, not organized for profit.

ARTICLE II
PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Its object shall be to develop and promote wrestling to its utmost, to cooperate with and assist the KHSAA in all matters pertaining to the maintenance, promotion and improvement of Kentucky’s wrestling program to promote sportsmanship, fair play, and good conduct, to sponsor clinics to assist in the clarification and interpretation of rules and the techniques and procedures in coaching, to assist in promoting and setting up Regional and State Tournaments that includes the State Duals, State Individual Tournament and any other Kentucky Wrestling Coaches Association event including the Kentucky Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame; and to promote good fellowship and social contact among coaches.

ARTICLE III

MEMBERSHIP

1. Membership will include Board Approved active coaches and assistant coaches.

2. Membership will begin the day of the Fall Clinic and end the day before the following years Fall Clinic.

3. Associate (non-voting) members may include School Administrators, Retired Coaches,

Middle School and Youth Coaches, current KYUSA Wrestling State Director, and any other honorary member that is approved by a 2/3 vote of the committee.

ARTICLE IV

DUES

The annual membership fee shall be $25.00 for an active membership card. One membership card per person will be required. After the fee is received by the Treasurer, he will return to the school as an acceptance, the annual membership fee card or cards, depending on number associated with the organization in each school. Dues are to be paid before December 25th. Anytime after December 25th, dues will increase to $50.00 per member. If dues are not paid by the Saturday prior to the State Duals, that team will be ineligible to compete in the State Duals.

No memberships will be accepted after the Saturday of the State Dual Tournament.

ARTICLE V

OFFICERS

The officers of the Association shall be President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer and must be a Regional Representative and selected by the committee.

Any officer may be subject to reelection if the executive board so vote. At no time may the President and Vice President be from the same representative region. At no time may the Secretary and Treasurer be from the same region.

Election of officers will be voted upon and appointed at the first meeting after the KHSAA State Tournament.

The officers’ duties are as follows:

PRESIDENT

The President shall serve a term of two (2) years. He shall serve as an advisor to the Executive Board during his term of office and for two (2) years thereafter.

He shall preside at all special and regular meetings of the Association.

He shall appoint committees when necessary.

He shall serve as ex-officio member to all committees.

VICE PRESIDENT

The Vice President shall serve a term of two (2) years.

He shall preside as chairman of the KYWCA meetings in the absence of the President.

He shall assume any other duties which may be delegated or assigned to him by the President or the Executive Board.

The Vice President shall serve as the director of the Kentucky State Duals committee.

The Vice President will automatically be nominated to become the President at the end of the President’s two year term.

TREASURER

The Treasurer shall serve a term of four (4) years.

He shall keep a complete record of all receipts and expenditures and work and act under the provision of these by-laws as far as KYWCA funds are concerned.

He shall assume any other duties which may be delegated or assigned to him by the President or the Executive Board.

SECRETARY

The Secretary shall serve a term of two (2) years.

He shall record the minutes of all regular and special meetings of the Association.

He shall send out the KYWCA minutes to the webmaster following all regular and special meetings of the association.

He shall assume any other duties which may be delegated or assigned to him by the President or the Executive Board.

ARTICLE VI

REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVES

Each region will be represented by one (1) elected member that must be an active head coach. Serving officers count as one (1) regional representative. Each member will serve a three (3) year term except for the treasure who will fulfill a four (4) year obligation according to Article V. Members of the KHSAA Advisory Committee are automatically a regional representative. If there is not a KHSAA Advisory Committee Member than that region will elect two representatives. At-Large committee members may be appointed as deemed necessary by the committee. Region Representatives shall be selected at the Regional Seed Meeting.

ARTICLE VII

MEETINGS

There shall be two (2) regular meeting each year, plus any special meeting called at the discretion of the President.

1. A general membership meeting at the annual preseason clinic.

2. A general membership meeting after the KHSAA State Tournament.

ARTICLE VIII

QUORUM

A majority of the members present at any general, or executive meeting constitutes a quorum.

BYLAWS

1. By-laws can be formulated by the Executive Committee or general membership.

2. By-laws can be amended by a majority vote of the Executive Committee.

3. Only members of the executive board, are permitted to vote at the executive board meetings.

BY-LAWS

1. Coach and Official of the Year Award. The KYWCA will recognize a Coach and

Official of the Year. They will be awarded and recognized at the KHSAA State Wrestling

Tournament.

The selection process is as follows:

A. Winner of the Coach of the Year Award must be a member of the KYWCA. Winner of the Official of the Year Award must be a member of the KWOA.

B. Must receive the greatest number of votes of the membership.

C. Each school will have one vote.

We will Seed the 6 Sectional Champions and draw the rest in.

The sectional winner will get the top 6 seeds. If a coach concedes a seed his team will become the 6 seed. To concede a seed an email must be sent to your sectional leader and a KYWCA officer on Wednesday by midnight before the KYWCA state duals.

Current Dual Record against Common Opponent

Winning Percentage

Teams must have at a minimum 7 duals to meet this seeding criteria. If winning percentage is the same, level of competition and strength of schedule will determine who gets the higher seed.
